About

My name is Martin Balao Alonso.

I am a software engineer interested in compilers, language runtimes and operating systems. I work at Apple contributing security and memory safety features to the clang compiler and the LLVM toolchain. My focus in on the C, C++ languages and the ARM64 architecture.

Previous to my current role, I worked at Red Hat and participated in the OpenJDK Security and Vulnerability groups. My contributions in the field of application security, vulnerability exploitation and security software development spanned several subsystems of the Java Virtual Machine, the JIT compilers and the JDK libraries.

This site is to share some of my work and promote open source software. All opinions are of my own —i.e. they do not represent my Employer. There is a brief history of this site here.

On a personal note, I was born in Uruguay , lived in Argentina for a few years and moved to the United States . I am now based in Cupertino, CA. In my free time, I enjoy reading, going for hikes —especially in the fall—, and drinking mate in any park nearby or by the ocean. A few more things in my Cafe space.
